The “ We Should Be Dancing! ” National Tour by Sam & Denise Miller is spreading the word about the US National Dance Championships© near Washington DC, October 6-10, 2005.
Sam
& Denise Miller
– International Dance Champions, Master Coaches,
frequent Top Teacher Awardees – are being profiled in major newspapers and magazines
and appearing on local, cable and network television programs across the
USA
and in Europe.
The Millers’ purpose is to reveal the life-time of fun and joy inherent in dancesport. Sam & Denise emphasize that dancesport 1) recognizes no age or generational barrier, 2) has no equipment requirements and 3) fosters respect between the genders.
Concludes Sam Miller: “Partner dancing is the natural life-time sport for every man and woman.” Dance is the “contact sport-of-choice.”
For an increasingly obesity-aware and fitness-conscious America, Sam & Denise emphasize the significant health benefits from dancing. Dancers experience a natural “high” from the pulse-raising, stress-shedding fun and joy of dancing … as reflected in their smiles! Dancers do not relate to the word exercise. “Exercise” connotes work — dancing is joyous fun!
Sam & Denise Miller will be in Berlin & Frankfort, Germany in June … in Syracuse, Scranton/Wilkes Barre, Washington DC & Baltimore in July … TBA: Nashville, Boston, Providence, Philadelphia, Chicago, Denver, Kansas City, Minneapolis, Cleveland, New Orleans, Phoenix, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Seattle, New York, Indianapolis, Las Vegas, Pittsburgh, Miami, and Tampa.
Sam & Denise Miller are committed to
· removing the intimidation factor and the “stuffiness” from dancesport
· furthering the art form and sport of partner dance at all levels of participation (social, competitive and professional) through a variety of dance types and music styles
· supporting a beginner friendly … and singles friendly … environment for partner dance participation
· providing access to a variety of partner dance styles across a wide spectrum of dance cultures
· creating professionally organized and consistently managed events at every level (club, state, regional, national) via a standardized and detailed dance event template
The IDP
music/rhythm and dance style menu is dynamic, currently embracing thirteen (13)
dances – a “California mix” of Foxtrot, 2Step, Night Club 2Step, Waltz, East
& West Coast Swing, Hustle, Carolina Shag, Cha Cha, Lindy,
Hand Dance, Salsa, and Argentine Tango.
The Millers – and their co-founders Dale & Anita Strawser – have established International Dance Productions (“IDP”) to provide the infrastructure and formatting necessary to produce a dance event. The IDP dance event “template” supports dance organizers and producers ― ranging from leaders of neighborhood groups to impresarios of international competition.
By standardizing the administrative and logistical process, the template makes dancing more accessible. The Millers and Strawsers believe: “Make dance more available and inviting, less off-putting and restrictive … make dance more friendly, and they will come.”
The IDP
template means no more “re-inventing the wheel” to have a dance event.
The IDP template removes the hurdles for amateurs and professionals. The
IDP template includes organizational pre-planning, marketing and publicity,
instructional workshops, production and presentation, music, judging and the
other myriad details that underpin a successful (for the participants) and cost-effective
(for the producers)
dance event.
Making
it easy to produce a dance event – in a school, at a club,
for a state competition – and making it easy to participate
in dance are what IDP is all about. More fun is the expected result –
for sports spectators,
for social dancers seeking friendly venues, for avid dancers looking to enhance
skills and test their partnership in competition. IDP’s motto is “More
dancing – less rules.”
The IDP template is, in effect, “a dance event in a box” – just “plug and play.” This helps keep overhead costs low and admission prices down. That clears the way for frequent and regular social and competitive dancing in neighborhood schools, local clubs, area and regional week-end events.
Sam
& Denise Miller
imagine a time in the near future when every man
and woman will have ready access to a nearby week-end dance event.
The weekly local events will be complemented by periodic state and regional
competitions, culminating in a national finale of social and competitive dancing.
The first
one will be the US National Dance Championships©
October 6-10, 2005 in
Chantilly,
Virginia at the Westfields Marriott Conference Center (800.635.5666).
“Promoting
the excitement and quality of life available through partner dancing” is the
overall goal of the “ We Should Be Dancing! ” Tour.
The immediate goal is to alert aspiring dancers and active social and competitive
dancers – as well as curious by-standers and devoted spectators – that partner
dance is poised to be “the next big thing!”
Dancesport is about to come out from “under the radar” for sports spectators, active lifestyle enthusiasts and media attention.
According to Sam & Denise Miller – “Dancing to live … and living to dance … is as good as it gets!” for an increasing number of men and women who are focused on maximizing their quality of life.
