Sam & Mona Ardvison

 

Sam and Mona Arvidson have over 60 years of dance experience between them. Sam started dancing and figure skating at age 3, and competed in figure skating until age 11. He came in fourth in the Junior Olympics in Lake Placid in 1980. He has danced professionally with the Washington Ballet, the Denmark Ballet and the Thai Ballet. Mona has been dancing most of her life as well, and has taught Ballet, Tap and Jazz to children and adults. Sam and Mona have been teaching Country Western, Ballroom and Swing dancing for 10 years, and they are the owners of Shall We Dance? Houston in Houston, Texas.

Sam and Mona have been competing together on the UCWDC circuit for 6 years. They currently compete in the Masters Showcase division of the UCWDC. They are certified UCWDC Journeyman level judges Sam and Mona are the 2003 UCWDC World Showcase Grand Champions, and the 2004 and 2006 Star award winners for Favorite Couple of the Year. Mona is the 2005 World Line Grand Champion and the 2006 World Showcase Line Grand Champion.

Sam and Mona are active in the UCWDC. In addition to being the directors of the Arizona Dance Classic, Sam and Mona are also the co-directors of the Baltimore Bash, Central Florida Dance Stampede and Sunshine State Dance Festival. Mona is the Secretary of the UCWDC and the Business Team Chair, and Sam is on the Rules Committee and is the Regional Representative for the South Central region.
