Markus Smith and Deonna Ball started their friendship and dance partnership in August 2000. During these five years, they have enjoyed teaching, performing, choreographing, and traveling.

In addition to dancing, they are both full-time college students. Markus attends Montgomery College in Rockville, Maryland, majoring in Music Education. Deonna attends George Mason University in Fairfax, Virginia, majoring in Network Security.

They are recipients of the Frankie Manning Award placing 1st in the Tri-State Connection Competition. Other 1st – 4th place achievements in 2005-2006 include: USA World Showcase, US Open Swing Dance Championships, Virginia State Open Swing Dance Championships, Nashville Classic Swing Dance Championships, Dallas D.A.N.C.E, American Open, Swing Fling, Texas Regional, Baltimore Bash, Michigan Classic, USA Grand Nationals, and M.A.D. Jam.
